We work for restaurants, retail stores, offices, warehouses, auto shops, apartment owners, churches, and schools across the city. Most customers are on an annual schedule. Others call because a fire inspector wrote them up or because someone used an extinguisher and it needs to be refilled.

Annual Extinguisher Service

California requires portable extinguishers in businesses to be serviced every year under Title 19 of the Code of Regulations. The technician weighs each unit, reads the gauge, removes the hose to check for blockage, inspects the valve, pin, and tamper seal, and confirms the bracket is secure and the unit is within reach. A unit that passes gets a new tag with the month and year punched. A unit that fails is recharged, repaired, or replaced.

Recharge, Six-Year Maintenance, and Hydrostatic Testing

An extinguisher that has been discharged, even briefly, has to be recharged before it goes back on the wall. Rechargeable dry chemical units are also emptied and examined inside every six years, and the cylinder is pressure tested every twelve. CO2 and wet chemical cylinders are tested every five years. We track those dates from the labels on the unit and tell you when one is coming due, so the cost does not arrive as a surprise at the annual visit.

Where Units Are Required

The fire code sets how many extinguishers a building needs and how far apart they can be. As a rule, no point on the floor should be more than 75 feet of travel from a unit, and kitchens, mechanical rooms, and spray or fuel areas need their own. We can walk a new tenant space and mark locations before the final inspection.

Fire sprinklers. Sprinkler systems are inspected to NFPA 25 at quarterly, annual, and five-year intervals.
